Homeless Sleepout 2025

On Thursday 18 September, 18 Year 10–12 students participated in the annual homeless sleepout. The purpose of this event was to raise awareness and empathise with the ongoing challenges for those in our community who experience homelessness, financial instability, and displacement. Students heard from volunteer guest speakers from Uniting, who spoke about the challenges facing young adults and children, and the impacts of homelessness on their lives and mental health. During the evening, they also engaged in activities to better understand the way privilege and disadvantage can influence every facet of people’s lives.

The students created their own sleeping spaces with cardboard and bedding and warmed themselves by the fire. A particular highlight was an impromptu campfire jam session with acoustic guitar accompaniment. This was an incredibly successful night and a great opportunity for students to come together and develop a broader understanding of the importance of charity, community outreach, and supporting those less fortunate.
