Wellbeing
The Wellbeing Program at Catholic College Sale is an integral part of the College. Each student belongs to a Pastoral Group designed to nurture relationships between students, teachers and parents, and to give students a sense of belonging, connection and self-worth. The Wellbeing Program is overseen by the Wellbeing Development Team.
Students belong to a family within the larger school community as part of our vertical pastoral system. There are six Houses, each overseen by a House Leader. The House Leaders and pastoral staff who are part of the House strive to create a culture of connectedness and belonging for its young members. They are part of something larger than themselves.
Catholic College Sale staff members are expected to be caring and compassionate, and to take a genuine interest in the lives of their students. The Pastoral Teacher has immediate responsibility for monitoring the attendance and general progress of the students in their care and is the parents’ first point of contact with the College.
The College has implemented the Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support (WSAPBS) framework. WSAPBS provides a structure for the College to create an environment that is predictable and well understood, offering safe and supportive spaces for students.
As part of this framework, we have established our School-Wide Expectations of ‘Respect and Responsibility’ through a community-wide consultation process. Our School-Wide Expectation Matrix outlines the expected behaviours for students across the various environments where they represent the College community.
All members of the College community have a significant role to play in supporting a whole-school approach to positive behaviour. Our staff are encouraged to “catch our young people doing things well”.
The College is committed to creating an environment where our students can be active learners, given every opportunity to maximise their personal growth. We aim to create belonging, strive for excellence, and share success with everyone in our community.
