Netball Victoria Schools Championships

On Tuesday 15 August, the College proudly sent four Netball teams to compete in the Netball Victoria Schools Championships (Preliminary Round) held at the State Netball Centre in Parkville. With anticipation running high, all 36 players eagerly embraced the opportunity to test their skills against some of the finest schools in the Melbourne region. Our distinguished ‘A’ teams, represented in both the Intermediate and Year 8 categories, demonstrated great skill and were only a couple of wins away from securing a coveted spot in the State Finals Day – which is a testament to their great performances.

Intermediate Team

The Intermediate ‘A’ team concluded the tournament with an impressive 5-2 record, securing noteworthy victories against formidable opponents such as Girton Grammar, Mt Saint Joseph Girls, Melton SC, and St Francis Xavier College.

Simultaneously, the Intermediate ‘B’ team showcased commendable determination, with three wins and four hard-fought losses. Noteworthy wins were achieved against Girton Grammar, Melton SC, and St Francis Xavier College.

Year 8 Team

Our Year 8 ‘A’ team exhibited resilience and tenacity, securing four wins and an additional draw from their seven matches. Their triumphs encompassed notable victories against Sacred Heart College, Kilbreda College, and Toorak College. However, our Year 8 ‘B’ team went through the competition, playing some really good halves of Netball, but were unable to secure a win from their seven starts.

A big thank you to Jo Gieschen, Kirralee Carstairs, Leah Leeson, Sarah Gardiner, and Kerrie Robbins for their unwavering support and dedication throughout this season of school Netball.
