SSV Cricket – Years 9/10

Our Year 9/10 team has made a great start to its 2019 campaign, with a comprehensive first round victory in the School Sport Victoria Cricket competition. Playing Sale College at the College Ovals, CCS lost the toss and were asked to field. We were able to keep our opponents to 29 runs from their 20 overs. All seven bowlers were effective, with everyone registering tidy figures:

Meika King – (Four overs, one maiden, 0/6)

Seb Pendergast – (Two overs, two maidens 0/0)

Jake Pendrick – (Three overs, 2/5)

Noah Bennett – (Two overs, 0/2)

Sol Nash – (Three overs, one maiden, 2/2)

Lakshay Singh – (Two overs, 1/4)

Tyson Birss – (Four overs, one maiden, 2/6)

In reply, Sale College were kind enough to allow us to bat our allotted 20 overs. Tom Morrison top-scored with 43* retired, while there were other solid contributions from Lakshay Singh (39* ret), Aurisch (17) and Hurley (17) in our total of 165. In a great show of sportsmanship, CCS players volunteered as sub-fielders for their opponent, who had a couple of players pull-out on the day.

We move on to the next round, which will be played later in the year (Term 4).
