SSV Regional Finals – Junior and Intermediate Girls Football

The College has seen some wonderful success recently on the football field, with both our Junior and Intermediate Girls teams going through undefeated at the School Sport Victoria Regional Finals.

Played at Traralgon West Sports Complex on Thursday May 27th, both teams endured cold, wintery conditions as they faced off against schools from around Gippsland. Both teams played three games with fifteen-minute halves, in round-robin format.

Junior Girls

Despite missing a handful of it’s more experienced players, our Junior side had no issue finding the scoreboard, averaging more than six goals across the shortened games. Perhaps more significantly, the side didn’t have a single point scored against them throughout the day.

Best players for the day were: Acacia Sutton, Chloe Rees, India Dean, Charlotte Stephenson, Bella Daly, Caitlyn Reid & Katie Robinson.

CCS 7.7.49 vs Nagle 0.0.0

Intermediate Girls

Our Year 9/10 side experienced similar success, winning all three of their regional final match-ups. Similarly to their junior counterparts, our Intermediate side played off against Wonthaggi SC, Lowanna College and Bairnsdale SC.

The girls’ forward pressure was stellar throughout the day and ensured the ball spent little time in our defensive half. Our collective midfield work was also confident and structured, allowing our forwards superior access to the ball.

Best players for the day were: Matilda Pendergast, Ash Centra, Jemma Birss, Zali Gallagher, Hannah Abdalla & Lucy Jones.
